Shredding FAQ's

Are documents shredded immediately?

Documents are shredded immediately if you chose the onsite service. Documents are brought back to our site in Roade, Northampton for the offsite service for processing within 3 working days.

How do I know my documents have been destroyed securely?

All destruction is undertaken to the British Standard BS EN 15713:2009 and a certificate of destruction is provided upon completion and should be retained by the customer for two years.

How do I pay?

An account will be set-up and you are invoiced monthly once the service has been provided. We accept payment by bank transfer, cheque, cash and credit/debit card. For our drop-in service card and cash payments only.

How do I request Box-it’s shredding service?

To arrange collection simply email sales@boxitsm.co.uk stating the amount of confidential waste you want to destroy and collection details, and we will take of the rest.

How secure are my documents during transit?

Security is our top priority, we use our own DBS checked staff and our own fleet of livered tracked vehicles which are locked at all times.

I’m a private individual and I have documents I’d like to shred – where do I go?

Simply email sales@boxitsm.co.uk to arrange a collection. Alternatively, we offer a drop-in service, please email sales@boxitsm.co.uk or call 01604 861 912 for more information.

Is there a minimum quantity required?

We will take care of any amount, no matter how large or small!

Can Box-it provide us with Sacks or Boxes?

We can provide secure shredding sacks and ties free of charge. Unfortunately, we aren't able to supply boxes for your shredding. If you have chosen our scheduled shredding service, we can supply lockable consoles and wheelie bins. If you aren't using our scheduled service and would like a console or wheelie bin, please feel free to contact us to discuss your options.

Who do you provide your services to?

Box-it services are available to both business and private individuals. No request is too much for us, whether you want document destruction, document storage, digital scanning, or a combination. We look after the entire document lifecycle!

Can you shred paperclips, staples, files spikes and plastic wallets?

We can shred all of the above, and most products associated to an office file or ring binder for further assistance please contact a member of the box-it South Midlands team on 01604 861 912

Are we assigned a dedicated Account Manager?

Every client is important to us and is immediately allocated an account manager. We offer a proactive account management service to ensure that your needs are continually met and you’re getting the best value for money on the services that we offer.

Can Box-it provide archive boxes?

Our archive boxes are market leading and triple skinned, meaning they are stronger than your average stationers box. We sell them in packs of 10 and they come in 5 different sizes, for prices and sizes please email sales@boxitsm.co.uk for more information.

How do you track our boxes?

Barcodes are placed on each box and/or file, which is then validated at every stage of their journey creating a full activity history.

How long can I store my documents for?

Documents can to be stored as long as you would like, bearing in mind that each industry and document type has different legal requirements and retention periods. 

What if we need to urgently recall a box held in storage by Box-it?

A same day delivery service is available in either a hard copy or digital format. (Charges apply)

What is the best procedure for cataloguing?

The key to having a good document management system is the way in which you catalogue your files. There are various ways to do this, from a simple spreadsheet to our online management document system. Please feel free to have a chat with us about your needs.

What is the minimum number of boxes Box-it stores for any client? And is there a maximum?

There is no minimum number of boxes we will store for you. We can cater for any number of boxes and have no limit on the number we will bring into store.

What security measures does Box-it have in place?

We have 24 hour 7 days a week CCTV, barrier controlled access, 24/7 alarmed monitored warehouses, fully tracked vehicles and DBS checked staff.

Can we visit Box-it’s premises before we commit?

You are very welcome to visit the site in office hours and meet the team who will be looking after your documents.

What preparation is needed from our organisation before sending boxes into storage?

Each company’s requirements are different, please contact us on 01604 861 912 to be guided every step of the way.

Your login details have been used by another user or machine. Login details can only be used once at any one time so you have therefore automatically been logged out. Please contact your sites administrator if you believe this other user or machine has unauthorised access.
